Internet Advertising Methods

Author: Pino Tedesco
People opt for internet advertising methods because practically half of the world’s population knows HTML. If you have your own business, you have to decide on what internet advertising method works for you.

Ask yourself what are you going to avail of: the expensive internet advertising methods or the cheap ones? Others will pipe in “expensive!” immediately, but they don’t know cheap internet advertising method attracts great benefits as well.

Here’s the lowdown and a comparative look on the cheap and expensive internet advertising methods:

The Expensive:

1. Pop-ups. Not only is this expensive, but also outright annoying that visitors close pop-up windows without even bothering to know what they’re all about. This is an internet advertising method that you can do without.

Fly ads are derivatives of pop-ups which are also equally irking to the visitors.

2. 1. Pop-ups. Not only is this expensive, but also outright annoying that visitors close pop-up windows without even bothering to know what they’re all about. This is an internet advertising method that you can do without.

2. Pod casts.

Broadcast is to TV as pod cast is to internet. It’s one sophisticated internet advertising method that can somehow hamper your budget. But if you’re thinking results, pod casting is worth the money.

3. Paying the search engines.

How does this one work? When someone types in a keyword related to your site, your URL is automatically included in the first page of the top results. Fixed payment for the search engine allows just that. Expensive, yes, but if we’re talking about Google and Yahoo search engines here, then don’t give it a second thought.

This is associated with another internet advertising method: the pay-per-click system.

The Cheap:

1. Blogging.

Go along the bandwagon and blog about your website. This is an internet advertising method that is popular as of the moment, so you never have to worry that this will never spur outcome. All you have to do is sign up for a blogging account, post and voila! You don’t even need to pay!

2. Submit to not-so-big search engines.

This is cheap and dependable. If you submit your site to smaller search engines, you have bigger chances to get bigger results. Remember that the search engine giants can dwarf and overlook your site easily, so this internet advertising method might just be the right one for you.

3. Text links.

This is not just cheap…this is virtually free! Let someone text link your site and return the favor.

Cheap versus expensive, that’s always the question that hounds on whenever we’re trying to get something. In the field of internet advertising, just be wise enough to figure out what will suit your needs. Go for what you want as long as there are visible results.

Effective SEO Copywriting

Author: Nathan Park

Search engine optimisation (SEO) is a guessing game, shrouded in mystery and hearsay. What little there is known for absolute certain is made up for by years of dedication to trial and error testing, carried out by thousands of experts and enthusiasts the world over. From their input, and writings on the subject, it is possible to find certain areas of consensus; there is at least some common ground upon which it is possible to build search engine rankings. Of course, the problem with SEO is that the search engines are always several steps ahead of the experts, and light-years ahead of laymen or ‘Saturday marketers’. There will forever be a substantial element of second-guessing involved, of strategy, of tactics, of anticipating the opponent’s next move.

Effective copywriting for SEO purposes firstly demands an intimate knowledge of the necessary ‘tools of the trade’. Anchor text, keyword syndication, LSI - it’s all important, and if you’re not a semi-expert, you need to have at least some idea of what you’re talking about to achieve any success. But more importantly than all these factors is that content reads well, and sounds professional. There is nothing worse than visiting a site with a wealth of content when it’s substantively terrible, and technically below par. Furthermore, if you read through the text and you can spot the keyword a mile off, there’s something far wrong. You can learn the technicalities on the SEO side in a book, and they are certainly useful, but there’s no substitute for quality content, targeted to your market segment to really convert those sales. And there’s no doubt that’s something you can’t learn in any textbook.

Writing effectively for search engines is obviously a different practice from effective copywriting for other media, but it is important not to treat the search engine as your target audience. You should always make sure your website copywriting for people first, and treat the search engines as a secondary reader. Having said that, the specific search engine requirements are obviously vital to improving ranking and ultimately driving traffic, but the text still has to equate quality-wise to the desired perception of your brand, and your business.

A good starting point is to try to offer informative content, for example your own interpretation of certain aspects of your market, or insider trade secrets that are actually of use. At the same time, a good thing to avoid is choosing ill-fitting keywords. Never use your keyword phrase in a sentence where it would not otherwise appear. The sentence should read fluently and effectively disguise the keywords within. Improper pluralisation and misused inflectional endings make articles sound awful, and detract from the overall look of the web page on which they are displayed. It would arguably be more useful to have a blank page of ‘correct’ text than to waste time on graphic design for a page of useless, keyword-centric drivel.

Whatever the subject matter of your writing for SEO purposes, make it flow. Consider the tone of your article, and the requirements as far as your readership are concerned, and use that as the basis for your writing. Of course, take the time to add in your various SEO elements, to make your article more amenable to the search engines, but make sure that as your first and main priority, your article passes as both technically sound and professionally structured to the human reader.

5 Top Search Engine Marketing Tips

Author: Alex Rich
On July 4th 2007, one of my clients made a decision to declare his commitment to independence. He decided to fast track the opening of his start up business. He told me he would trust his future to my coaching. I felt the pressure but no stress because of his commitment to a 12 month SEO marketing campaign. I wasted no time setting him on course. It all began with my 5 top search engine and marketing tips.

The short version of the story is the revenue for this start-up company moved from $0 to $7 million in monthly revenue in 9 months. The first 30 days were focused on building the foundation and optimizing his websites. After a review of his initial plans it was clear search engine marketing was essential. My five steps for search engine marketing formed the foundation. Here are the main search engine ranking tips that can help fast track any business Internet marketing success.

1. Build a solid foundation. Use a proven keyword search tool like provided by Google or Yahoo. Go for quality rather than quantity once your keyword choices produce results. For example, if your business is related to credit cards, search a variety of combinations e.g. credit card services, qualify credit cards, credit card sources, etc. This starts the ball rolling with hundreds of choices. Select both high popularity and low popularity ranked keywords and merge them into your marketing materials. This is a proven formula for driving waves of traffic to your door.

2. Once the traffic starts to build test several versions of your marketing materials. Do not be stingy with your investment of time, money and sweat that must be poured into testing. Focus on your graphics, colors, fonts, wording, spelling, etc.

A side note regarding a recent test. One client experienced a 20% increase in her conversion rate by purposely misspelling four words in various parts of her material. She didn’t place all of the words on the same page and only tested one misspelling on the main page. The point is to TEST TEST TEST and don’t be afraid to take risks. Your focus here is to find the right mix of search engine optimization and results generated through the variety of approaches you try.

3. If your service or product appeals to the 20 something market do not overlook the social media marketing sites. This requires you join and explore you membership to the fullest extent. Join the forums and submit comments, and participate. Remember you’re there to participate and observe, not to promote and sell. Your time investment will pay off larger than any sales you might be lucky enough to make.

This is especially important if you are older than the prevailing members. This is a huge marketplace and the insights you obtain will serve several purposes. The most important take-away is learning about the needs and interest of the energetic, pragmatic, artistic, and just plain folks that make up the largest population segment in the world.

4. SEO articles are a big part of any search engine marketing focus. However, you don’t want to miss most important part of marketing. Namely, your product or service. No mater how flashy or techy or absolutely perfect your product may be, it will not move if your customers don’t understand the value. In this instance value means benefit. Your marketing materials must clearly communicate the answer to “So What?”

For example the 70″ LCD TV I’m still waiting to arrive from the warehouse wasn’t ordered when I first saw it in November. At that time my 72″ Magnavox was still providing the best picture available. Yes the 70″ set was newer, more high tech and flashier, but it didn’t provide a good answer for my So What? question. However, once the picture on my other set began to fade the answer to So What? changed. Try to answer the So What question from your prospects perspective and you’ll see the difference in your results.

5. Add testimonials to your SEO marketing materials and don’t be stingy. I always recommend a full page of testimonials to fast track the acceptance of your products. Human nature is a solitary thing in many ways; however, most of us find it easier to make a positive decision when others have already tested the waters so to speak.

5.5 My Bonus Tip…. Start a Blog. If you have not started a blog dedicated to your start-up business you’re missing out. Simple blogs take about 20 minutes to start and about an hour or less a week to maintain…unless you’re serious. The benefit is credibility. Let’s face it. You’re the expert on your business and your service or product. No one knows it like you do. In fact, no one knows you like you know yourself.

In today’s reality TV crazy world, everyone wants to know as much as they can about anyone they haven’t met, especially if they share themselves in a public forum. Blogs are a perfect way to begin your PR campaign, especially when it comes to search engine marketing.
